Get the expertise of your jewels, silverware and coins

First of all, it should be noted that when you wish to have your jewels, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' items appraised, this allows you to know your goods better in detail. But this also gives other advantages:

  • To increase the value of your assets
  • Protect yourself in case of theft (thanks to photos or a description)
  • To prepare one's succession

An expertise is a profitable investment that lasts over time. Indeed, often in families, jewels, silverware, coins are passed on without really knowing what they are. These precious goods risk to be the source of difficulties if they are not well appraised, identified and evaluated. That is why it is necessary to have your jewelry, silverware or coins appraised.

The expertise of your valuables

Fnepsa offers you its services for the expertise of your jewels, silverware and coins.

To have a jewel appraised

We have a very precise procedure to evaluate your jewelry. The first step is the study of its nature and composition:

Ring, bracelet, necklace, etc...

Gold, platinum, silver, diamond, ruby, sapphire, emerald, etc.

Then, we check if this jewel is signed by a great house of the Place Vendôme (Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, Boucheron, Chaumet, Bulgari, Bucellatti, Mellerio, Lalique, etc) or if it is a vintage jewel (Chanel, Dior, etc).

We then analyze the period from which the jewel dates (antique, 18th century, Napoleon III, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, 50's, 60's, etc...) as well as its manufacturer (Castellanni, Froment Meurice, Giulaino, Phillips, Fannières, Wiese, César, Armand, Victoire de Castellane, etc...).

Finally, we determine a price in replacement value (new or used) or in realization value (at a given time).

Appraising silverware

We are able to appraise all types of silverware:

  • Antique silverware
  • 16th, 17th and 18th century silverware (provincial or Parisian)
  • Empire silverware (Odiot)
  • Napoleon III silverware
  • Art Nouveau silverware
  • Art Deco silverware (Puiforcat)

As for second-hand jewellery, we will make a careful description and an identification sheet which will allow the object to be clearly identified.

Appraisal of coins

We appraise both bullion and stock market coins as well as collector's coins.

Concerning coins and bullion, our expert will sort the coins according to their origin (napoleon, sovereign, 20 dollars, 50 pesos, krugerrand, etc). He will authenticate the ingots or can, at your request, issue a certificate of authenticity if the original has been lost. He may also give a price at a given moment, while specifying that the price is constantly changing and may change rapidly in one direction or another.

Concerning the coins of collections, the work and the methodology remain the same as for the jewels and the silverware.  Our expert can highlight the quality of a collection, its numismatic rarities, etc.  He will be able to advise his client to harmonize all his coins.

An expertise file to insure your goods

Equipped with his expertise file, the client will be able to insure his jewellery, silverware and coins at their fair value. In case of theft, this file will allow the competent authorities to identify and return the jewellery, silverware and coins to their owners.

Inheritances in which expert appraisals have been carried out are often easier. In the event of a division, the heirs will have a basis for dividing up the jewellery, silverware and coins.

In short, having your jewellery, silverware and coins appraised is to put all the chances on your side in the future in the event of inheritance and division, sale, etc.
